Two bus drivers are lacing up their trainers as they each prepare to take on a charity challenge.

Arif Khan is preparing for his second London Marathon while his Oxford Bus Company colleague Mark Temple is readying himself for a half-iron-man contest in Somerset.

Mr Khan is raising funds for Cancer Research UK, while Mr Temple is running in support of Sobell House.

Mr Khan said: "It’s a wonderful charity that helps make a difference and I’m happy to help again.

"Training is going well and I’m focused on beating my time from last year.

"I’m so grateful to Oxford Bus Company for supporting me and Cancer Research UK."

Mr Temple is raising funds for the hospice that provided care for his father and his wife’s grandmother.

He said: "Sobell House showed so much compassion and respect and so I always run in support of the hospice.

"I’m looking forward to the day and running for such a good cause."

Luke Marion, the managing director at Oxford Bus Company, said the company was "so proud" of both men

He also praised their colleagues for the support they have provided.

He added: "Their determination is inspiring and so we’re delighted to help them both with kit for their big days."
