A man has been arrested after another man was taken to the hospital with serious stab wounds.

Police were called to reports of a man aged in his 20s being stabbed close to Isis Lock near Oxford train station yesterday (Sunday, April 14) at around 5.40pm.

Members of the public at the scene gave first aid to the man before he was taken to hospital with a serious but not life-threatening injury to his arm.

A 28-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and he remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Krista Thompson, of Oxford Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said: “We are in the early stages of this investigation and a scene-watch is likely to remain in place for some time.

“I would like to thank members of the public who administered first aid at the scene, supported by the fire service, prior to police and ambulance attendance.

“I appreciate that we have had a number of incidents in recent weeks, but I would like to reassure the public that we are investigating this incident thoroughly and do not believe there to be any wider risk to the local community and do not believe it to be linked to any of the recent incidents.
