The fire service in Oxfordshire has warned drivers this weekend amid high winds.

It is set to be an incredibly windy weekend across the county and Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service have been quick to remind drivers of the dangers that come with such adverse weather.

Firefighters have reminded motorists that they should steer clear of overtaking tall vehicles when the winds are high.

A spokesperson for the force on X said: “With high winds forecast today, help keep yourself safer on the roads by driving more slowly to minimise the impact of gusts of wind and keep a firm hold on the steering wheel.”

“Be aware of and avoid overtaking high-sided vehicles and caravans.

“Allow more room than normal when passing cyclists and motorbikes.

“Always drive at a safe speed for the road and its conditions.”
