A train derailment caused rush hour chaos for Oxfordshire commuters.
A freight train travelling to Reading from London Paddington passed a red signal near West Ealing at 6.10am today (April 5), and three wheels of the locomotive came off the track, according to Network Rail.
There were no injuries.
Services to London Paddington and Heathrow Airport and Reading are still disrupted with Great Western Railway, the Elizabeth Line and Heathrow Express trains all affected.
The incident caused travel chaos during rush hour with commuters told to expect “severe delays” and cancelled services until midday.
In the past half hour, Network Rail tweeted that all lines between London Paddington and Reading have now reopened.
It said it is working on a plan to rerail the freight train but in the meantime, some trains have knock on impacts, so check your journey before travelling.
