The tills and alcohol were targeted in the burglary of an Italian restaurant which was left with "a lot of damage" inside, say owners.

Restaurant owners of Avanti in Wallingford said cash, liquors and wine were taken during a break-in on Tuesday, March 26 at around 3.20am.

Doors and windows were also smashed in the break-in, said the owners.

The restaurant added: "The person was riding around town on a bike, not stolen from us, and they were carrying a backpack with reflective stripes on the straps.

"If anyone has any information please let us know."

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: "This has been reported to us and no arrests have been made.

"We would appeal to anyone with information to contact the force.
