More than 500 children have taken part in an event designed to help them understand the Easter story.

TrinityLearning's Experience Easter event, held both in Trinity Church in Abingdon and online, ran from March 12 to 21,

Seven to 11-year-olds expressed their hopes and dreams by writing on palm crosses, and vented their angry and fearful thoughts using plasticine.

Nicola Williams, TrinityLearning’s education development officer, said: "Experience Easter is a key annual event for us and the many dedicated volunteers who support us in preparing and running the workshops.

"We have had some fantastic feedback from school staff about how engaging and fun the children found the event and it’s wonderful to be able to share the Easter story in a calm and relaxed atmosphere."

An online version of the event is available on the TrinityLearning website.

The event is part of TrinityLearning's aim is to alleviate pressures on busy schools via tailor-made activities, which include practical help for school leaders, child mentoring, and workshops for pupils and staff.

TrinityLearning was developed from a church project set up by Trinity Church in 2009.

It said its aim is to "provide support for school communities in order to reduce stress and make space for the spirit".

The organisation has led projects such as assembly's and nature walks.
