An Indian restaurant in Oxfordshire has been handed a low food hygiene rating after an inspection.

The council environmental health team visited the Bay of Bengal on Wellington Street in Thame on September 28.

The restaurant was given a two-out-of-five rating after the assessment meaning improvement is deemed to be "necessary".

The inspectors judged the restaurant with regard to hygienic food handling, cleanliness and the condition of facilities and management of food safety.

The cleanliness and condition of facilities and buildings were the contributing factors to the low rating.

The council's environmental health team is in charge of inspecting and rating hospitality venues on a zero to five scale with zero being the lowest score and five the highest.
