A national housebuilder has teamed up with a renewable energy provider to offer homes in Oxfordshire which could save residents up to £1,928 annually.

St Modwen Homes and Octopus Energy have their ‘Zero Bills’ homes up for sale at Crabhill at Kingsgrove development in Wantage.

These homes, priced from £429,995, are the first in the area to provide a minimum of five years of zero energy bills.

Equipped with green technology like air source heat pump, solar panels, a home battery, and smart meter, these houses improve energy efficiency.

Currently, two 'Zero Bills' properties, both 'Kea' type houses, are on sale.

These properties feature a hallway, living room, kitchen/diner, utility cupboard, WC downstairs, and three bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.

The main bedroom has a wardrobe and an en-suite.

In Oxfordshire, Google searches for 'energy efficient homes' have surged by 46 per cent year-on-year, and a 52 per cent rise in searches for 'help with energy bills' has been noted nationwide in the last three months.

Michael Cottrell, zero bills homes director at Octopus Energy, said: "We’re delighted to be partnering with St Modwen Homes to bring the first ‘Zero Bills’ properties to Oxfordshire – combining renewable home tech and super efficient housing together to completely eradicate bills for new homeowners."

Chris Bailey, technical director at St Modwen Homes, added: "It’s an exciting time for the property market thanks to the revolutionary ‘Zero Bills’ scheme and we’re thrilled to be a part of it."
