Oxford buses heading to airports have been diverted due to heavy traffic in the city.

Due to the ongoing congestion around St. Clements at peak times, Oxford Bus Company has warned that services may alter.

These changes will see coaches diverted via Headley Way, Marston Ferry Road and Banbury Road to Gloucester Green bus station to avoid getting caught in the area.

As a result, the stops at Brookes University, St. Clements, Queens Lane and St. Aldates may be missed when operating the diverted route.

A spokesperson for Oxford Bus Company said: “Passengers requiring to alight at any of these stops can either remain on the coach after Gloucester Green on the outbound journey or alight at Headington Shops and connect with our local services (400/city8) for onward travel.

“As stated, this will only happen at peak times when the traffic conditions are exceptionally heavy.

“Thank you for your understanding.”

The company also warned that bus services heading to airports will also be affected this coming weekend.

The Oxford Bus Company spokesperson added: “Between 9pm on Friday, March 15, and 6am on Monday, March 18, the M25 motorway be closed between Junctions 10 and 11.

“During this time we are anticipating significant disruption to airline services.”

People travelling to airports from Oxford this weekend have been warned to set off in good time to avoid arriving late.
