Plans have been submitted to knock down a former trading estate next to the designer outlet Bicester Village with the site's future still up in the air.

The former McKay Trading Estate sits on Station Road near the railway station and was taken over by Value Retail – which owns Bicester Village – in 2016.

It was reported at the time the seven individually-let warehouse units at McKay Trading were sold for £7.85m.

Shortly after this, plans were approved to demolish the site to make way for Bicester Village offices, however, this never came to fruition.

Now new plans have been submitted to knock down six of the seven units with the site's future still being considered, according to planning documents.

The site would be surrounded with hoarding boards after the proposed demolition works until a decision is made.

All work vehicles would be parked within Bicester Village and access would only be via Pingle Drive and through the outlet designer if approval was given.

London Road and Station Road would not be used, plans say.

Work would take place between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday with no work taking place at the weekend, planning documents added.

"This plan will be used to outline the general principles to be adopted during and throughout the works, to minimise the impact of hazardous material removal and demolition of the surrounding areas", a planning statement read.

It adds: “This demolition method statement has been prepared to set out how the buildings will be safely and properly demolished in line with guidance and statutory requirements and the appointed demolition contractor will comply with the statement at all times.”
