A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Oxford.

Following an incident in Edgecombe Road in Barton at around 11.35pm on Thursday, February 29, a man in his 20s suffered several stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital and following treatment, he has now been discharged.

On Monday (March 4), Thames Valley Police arrested a 15-year-old boy from Headington on suspicion of attempted murder. TVP released information on the teen's arrest today (Friday, March 8). 

He has since been released on conditional police bail while the investigation continues.

Another man, aged 26 and from Oxford, who was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and resisting a constable has since been released on police bail.

Detective Inspector Krista Thompson of Oxford CID said: “Thankfully, the victim’s condition was not life-threatening and he has now been discharged from hospital.

“We have made a further arrest in connection with this incident and I would like to reassure the community that we are making good progress with the investigation.

“I would again ask anybody who believes they witnessed the incident or who has any information that may assist the investigation to please contact us."

Detectives probing the stabbing have not ruled out a connection with another stabbing in Oxford four days earlier saying they are "keeping an open mind" during investigations.

Police were called to College Lane in Littlemore at around 6.05pm on Sunday, February 25 as two men, aged 32 and 28, were hospitalised with stab wounds. 

Tobias Bruce, 32, from Oxford, died in hospital on Wednesday, February 28 sparking police to launch a murder investigation while the 28-year-old was released from the hospital.

Four people have been arrested in relation to the double stabbing incident with three suspects bailed and one released without further action.

Police arrested a 41-year-old man from Headington on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder.

A 30-year-old man from Botley was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specific controlled drug above the specified limit.

Police officers also arrested a 57-year-old woman from Headington on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All three suspects were released on bail on Wednesday, February 28, while a 33-year-old man who was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was released with no further action.

Following the death of Mr Bruce, tributes have been paid from across the community including his family and friends.

A family statement released by police said: “It would be fair to say that being a parent is not always easy.

"Tobias at times has not always made the right choices in life, however my love as his mum has and always will be unconditional, it has never faltered.

“Nothing will ever be as hard as the challenge I face now as a mum that has to continue without my beautiful boy."
