Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper’s UK tour faces an unexpected challenge in Bournemouth as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has launched billboards advocating veganism.

The animal rights group has put up nine double-sided billboards across the city centre, coinciding with Mr Cooper's visit today as part of his tour across the UK.

These billboards, found in Old Christchurch Road and Commercial Road, will remain in place for two weeks.

PETA's vice president of corporate projects, Dawn Carr, said: "Everyone needs farmers, but farmers don’t need to exploit animals for meat, eggs, or dairy.

"PETA’s billboards encourage Bournemouth locals to support farmers by eating the nutritious and climate-friendly vegetables, grains, pulses, and fruits that they grow."

The billboards arrive amid rising concerns about the environmental impact of animal agriculture.

Campaigners say it is a leading cause of environmental destruction due to its heavy land, food, energy, and water usage, as well as its greenhouse gas emissions.

The National Food Strategy reported that 85 per cent of the UK's total agricultural land is utilised to feed farmed animals, not humans.

Research from the University of Oxford indicates that with the existing food system, achieving the climate goals outlined in the Paris Climate Agreement is impossible unless animal agriculture alters its practices.

PETA has released a video celebrating British farmers and initiated its inaugural Farming Awards last year.

Mr Cooper has risen to fame since appearing on Clarkson's Farm, which is filmed at Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington.
