Oxford Mail: BMW after fire

Eyewitness Len Lambe said: “I was sitting watching TV with my wife and you could hear the bang.

“Sometimes you get the Abingdon Air Show and you can hear these things but there was nothing in the sky.

“The noises went on for 30 minutes and then it got a bit louder.

“We went upstairs to look out the windows and there was a fire engine adjacent to the car park.

“My son and I walked there and we could see the flames through the hedges and smoke billowing up.

“It was a surprise, sometimes there is loud music coming from the area when kids gather but it is fairly rare.”

Thames Valley Police has launched an investigation into the incident and the force is asking for anyone with information to get in touch.

A letter sent to residents said: “A vehicle has been burnt out on the recreation ground on Sunday, March 3 evening. Please call 111 and quote 20240303-1756 with any information.”
