A man killed in a stabbing in Oxford has been named locally as tributes flood in from the community.

Tributes have been paid to Tobias Bruce from friends and family after the 33-year-old from Oxford died in hospital yesterday (February 28).

Police were called to College Lane in Littlemore at around 6.05pm on Sunday (February 25) as two men, aged 33 and 28, were hospitalised with stab wounds. 

The 28-year-old has been discharged from the hospital, however, the death of the 33-year-old has sparked a murder investigation.

Following news of the tragedy, tributes have been paid to Mr Bruce.

Ruth Jones said: “To my beautiful nephew, we had good times we had bad times but we always had love.

“My heart is breaking and so are all your cousins, and family. You are now at peace my darling.

“You will never be forgotten and I’m sure lots of stories will be shared.

“Until we meet again for one of your most amazing hugs. Love always your biggest fan."

Another quote from Chloe Jones added: “Rest in peace, Tobias. I’ll never forget some of the worst times you helped me through.

“I’ve known you since secondary school.

“Always called you ‘Tobieias’ as our little joke. Sleep tight and I’ll see you again.”

Katie Bowler said: “As heavens gained another angel, we’ve lost a friend.

“Tobias I’ll miss your banter, your beautiful smile, our random catch-ups and seeing your face.

“You were taken way too soon. Rest easy and fly high. Until we meet again.”

Joanne Goldsmith added “RIP Tobias” while another said he “will be hugely missed”.

Emma Wilmott-Smith wrote: “Rest in paradise, Tobias.”

County councillor for Rose Hill and Littlemore, Trish Elphinstone said: “This is terrible news. 

"My thoughts are with the family and the Littlemore community who have suffered this tragic loss.”

Tiago Corais, city councillor for Littlemore, added: “It is absolutely devastating that a member of our community sadly died after the tragic incident.

"My thoughts are with his family and friends at this terrible time."

Jordan Parker wrote: “I'm sorry we didn't get to do more jobs together. You will be missed."

Andrew Milligan added: “RIP. I'll never forget the good time running through yards.

“See you soon.”

Omar, who didn’t give his surname, said: “Rest in peace brother, love you always realist soldier.

“Never forget that night in London.”

A 41-year-old man from Headington has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder. 

A 30-year-old man from Botley has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specific controlled drug above the specified limit.

A 57-year-old woman from Headington has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

They have all been released on bail.

Cowley Road was reopened by police on Tuesday afternoon (February 27) after the road had been cordoned off since Sunday evening. 

The cordon remained in place throughout Monday (February 26) as forensics teams carried out investigations.

A 33-year-old man, previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released with no further action.

A further tribute from Teresa Sims said: "I am so sorry for the family and friends for this terrible loss of life and so young, please accept my condolences to you all.”

Shirley Whipp said “rest in peace” while another added “rest in eternal peace, thinking of your family and friends fly high”.

“Thoughts go out to the family,” Emma Newell added.

Wendy Parker wrote: “Thoughts and prayers with all the family”

And Dawn Harris said: "Thoughts to his family ."

While someone else said: “Another life taken too soon. Condolences to all of his family and friends. RIP”

The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

“We believe that this is an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the public.
