An Indian restaurant is set to open tomorrow in Oxford's Cowley Road.

Dosa Darlings aims to "disrupt the perception" associated with Indian cuisine by offering a cocktail menu alongside South Indian inspired small plates.

The restaurant is the latest addition to the JM Socials group, which has a well-established portfolio of eateries in Cheltenham like Prithvi, Bhoomi Kitchen, Holee Cow, and Bao + BBQ.

Michael Raphel, owner of Dosa Darlings, said: "We're really excited to open this Friday and offer Oxford a fun space where people can come together and enjoy something new.

"Inspired by the tastes of Kerala in South India, Dosa Darlings will take people on a unique culinary experience in a casual, welcoming setting."

He added: "Indian restaurants can typically be thought of as a masculine space, so we wanted to challenge that notion by showcasing cultural dishes with a modern 'sassy' twist.

"The result is a place for enjoying the authentic tastes of South India while having fun and cocktails."

The restaurant will be giving away a free dosa to the first 50 people that pass through its doors on Tuesday, February 13.

Guests will be able to enjoy chai and snacks in a bar area throughout the day, before the lights are dimmed in the evening as cocktails and Indian bar snacks are served.

With a minimalist chess floor and pastel red walls complementing a large dining area accommodating groups of eight to 10 guests, customers can also enjoy the al fresco dining setup on the terrace offering marble tables and rattan chairs surrounded by green palm trees, lit up by fire pyramids and festoon lights.

To celebrate its opening, Dosa Darlings is offering 25 per cent off its food menu for the first two weeks, until February 23.

The menu includes traditional Indian curries, biryani, and desserts including Rasmalai and Pongal.

The restaurant's main offering is the namesake dosa, showcasing flavour combinations like masala, dates and almond, and blue cheese and truffle.

There will also be a cocktail list with signature drinks like 'Bambo' and 'Keralan'.

Mr Raphel added: "We can't wait to welcome people from Oxford and beyond to enjoy great food and drinks with us. It’s going to be an exciting few months with the opening."

Open Tuesday to Saturday from midday to 10pm and Sunday from midday to 9pm, Dosa Darlings is accepting walk-ins and bookings, and is offering takeaways via a click and collect service.
