A bridge over the A40 is closed to allow improvements to be made to safety barriers.

Oxfordshire County Council has closed a section of Stanton Harcourt Road for three weeks while parapet improvement works are carried out.

The bridge, which crosses the busy A40 and links Witney and Eynsham, has seen several suicides.

The closure started on January 29 and the estimated completion of the works February 23.

It is in place 24 hours a day.

Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for frontages within the closure area, subject to the progress of the works and liaison with the works supervisor, said the council.
