A FORMER police officer who supplied party drugs at sex parties has been dubbed a ‘devious and manipulative individual’ by police.

Ben Simmons, 37, an ex-officer with West Midlands Police, pleaded guilty to two counts of supplying the drugs to another man – who cannot be named for legal reasons – while he lived in Banbury between July 2022 and August 2023.

The drugs, named colloquially as ‘Gina’ and ‘Tina’, were frequently taken at sex parties that were often held in Birmingham hotels.

He received a 14-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, by Judge Michael Gledhill on Tuesday (January 30) at Oxford Crown Court.

After sentencing, Detective constable Cory Vigilante, based at Banbury police station, described the former officer as ‘devious’.

“Ben Simmons has been convicted of supplying class A and C drugs,” he said.

“He is a former police officer of West Midlands Police and has shown a complete disregard for the law and the police throughout the investigation.

“He is a devious and manipulative individual that is finally paying for his crimes.

“I hope that his time spent on remand in prison has allowed him to learn from his actions and will seek support that he requires going forward.”

Simmons was removed from the police force in 2021 after being caught drink-driving.

He was also charged with having articles of police uniform such as jackets, a stab vest and notebooks despite not being a serving officer but these have since been returned so the charge was dropped.
