A group of young Jamaicans will be visiting an Oxford University college in February as part of a technology collaboration.

Youths from Youth Can Do I.T. (YCDI) in Kingston, Jamacia will be attending Jesus College as part of Project Amplify, which delves into the ethical design and usage of virtual reality realms.

The project navigates through the Metaverse, modelled through the vision and experiences of Jamaican youth.

They will be attending an event, open to the public, where they will share their findings from the year long project, along with the project team.

Attendees will have the opportunity to wear headsets, stepping into the virtual reality worlds created as part of the project.

Complimentary light refreshments and snacks will be provided during the afternoon.

Doors open at 2pm for a 2.30pm start, with video presentations of the project to be shown during this time.

Entrance to the event is via Cheng Kar Shun Digital Hub's entrance on Market Street, Oxford, with lift access available to all floors.

Attendees requiring accessibility support can email digitalhub@jesus.ox.ac.uk.

YCDI is a youth empowerment organization founded in 2016, which has had more than 500 young people take part in their programmes.

They say their aim is "to empower youth through skill-building, self actualizing programmes that prepare them for the jobs of the future".
