A main road into an Oxfordshire town will be partly closed due to emergency roadworks.

Wantage Road in Wallingford is set to be closed for the next 24 hours after engineers were called to a leak on Tuesday, January 23.

Work will begin on reinstating the road meaning part of the road will be closed.

Thames Water has apologised for the inconvenience caused by the road closure

A spokesperson said: "We responded to reports of a leak on Wantage Road in Wallingford on Tuesday 23 January where our engineers attended and made the repair on the same day.

"Over the course of the next 24 hours, our teams will be carrying out the reinstatement of the area, during which time part of the road will remain closed.

"We are sorry to motorists and residents for any inconvenience caused and would like to assure them we are working to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible."
