An opening date has been announced for a new McDonald's restaurant in Didcot.

The new restaurant will open in the Orchard Centre on Wednesday.

Following significant investment from local franchisee Ismail Anilmis the restaurant will open for dine-in, takeaway, delivery, as well as click and serve.

Opening hours will be from 5am to midnight, seven days a week.

The new 60-seater restaurant will create about 90 new full and part-time jobs for the community and will feature table service, self-ordering kiosks, and an outside patio area.

Ismail Anilmis, who now owns and operates 19 McDonald’s restaurants in the Oxford area, said: “We are excited to be opening a brand-new McDonald’s restaurant and to be serving shoppers at the Orchard Centre.

"People are at the heart of our business, and we look forward to welcoming new employees with the jobs our restaurant will create.

"We’re committed to investing in opportunities for a mix of all ages, life stages and backgrounds, promoting flexible working and equality.”

Oxford Mail: The Orchard Centre in DidcotMcDonald’s has said its ‘Convenience of the Future’ restaurant programme will combine "a new restaurant layout with the latest technology to create an enjoyable experience for customers".

This includes a redesign of the front counter which is aimed to bring less congestion around touchscreens used for ordering and shorter queues.

McDonald's also stated a new dedicated courier waiting area and entrance will "create a more relaxing restaurant environment for customers".

There will also be a new kitchen design aimed to help "serve more quickly than ever before" and improved break spaces for staff.

A statement from the company added: "The Orchard Centre restaurant features the latest innovations in sustainable building design throughout and the restaurant has been deliberately designed to retain the familiar McDonald’s look and feel."

In October the restaurant was told it could not serve customers past midnight following concerns from people living in the community.

The fast food giant had applied for a licence to serve burgers, fries and other hot food from 11pm to 5am.

But South Oxfordshire District Council’s licensing committee heard from residents who were concerned about noise and litter and the application to serve until 5am was refused.
