A PLEA date has been set after a driver allegedly rammed into a campervan several times at an M4 service station.

Khayyam Quershi was arrested after the incident on December 23 at Moto Chieveley Services and charged with conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, affray, dangerous driving, and threatening behaviour.

It’s alleged the 42-year-old had a knife and was ‘challenging’ a man in his thirties at the service station before ‘driving at him’ and missing.

Quershi then allegedly rammed his Land Rover Range Rover into the campervan, which had a family inside, multiple times.

No one was injured but three cars were damaged.

Quershi, of Coppice Close, Newbury, is now due at Oxford Crown Court on January 26 for plea and trial preparation.

Appealing for more information, Detective Sergeant Marcus Burrows said: “I understand this assault and affray may have been alarming for those who witnessed it and those hearing about it.

“However, thankfully, no one was injured and there is no ongoing risk to the public. We are investigating it thoroughly.

“I am appealing for witnesses to any part of this incident to please come forward. The services were busy at the time so I imagine there are lots of people who witnessed it but have not spoken to us yet.”
