Bricks were left scattered over a pavement in Oxford after a wall at the side of a building collapsed.

The wall in Cricket Road, Cowley, fell at some point yesterday (Monday, January 1) and left the entire pavement blocked off with rubble.

Some of the bricks even reached the road and the debris was not cleared until after 10am today.

An eyewitness who came across the damage said: “Looks like because of wind this building wall collapsed as the bricks have fallen down even reaching the road.”

The wall is attached to the side of a building that used to be run by Medina News & Halal Meat Centre, a corner shop.

The shop closed after a one-star food hygiene report in 2018 when inspectors said it was selling rotting fruit 'not fit for human consumption’.

Building work is currently underway and a ‘To Let’ has been put outside the building.
