A crash victim is in hospital with “life-threatening” injuries after a VW Golf flipped onto its roof on New Year's Eve.

The 25-year-old woman is in critical condition following the crash in Watchfield, near Shrivenham, on Sunday (December 31).

A man has been arrested on several charges, including on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

At 10.05pm, a black VW Golf left the carriageway of the A420, hitting trees and then ending up on its roof back in the middle of the road.

The woman, who was the passenger, was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where she remains.

A 23-year-old man from Kidlington has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving whilst unfit through drink and using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without insurance.

Thames Valley Police said he remains in custody at this time.
