New licensees of a historic pub in the heart of Witney have raised £3,500 for a cancer care centre in Oxford.

Mike Dove and Tom Higgs of the Three Horseshoes pub in Corn Street decided to raise the money for Maggie’s, after one of the pub’s locals was diagnosed with stage three cancer.

The founder of Maggie’s used her own experience of cancer to create what is claimed to be a new type of cancer care.

The first centre opened in Edinburgh in 1996, and the organisation now has a network of centres built beside NHS hospitals across the UK.
