We saw mums and dads from Cornwallis Road at Cowley celebrating the Queen’s Coronation in 1953 at a street party (Memory Lane, May 29).
This is a picture of some of the children who lived at numbers 60-120 having fun at ‘Cool Cowboy’ Gerald Swainger’s birthday party three years earlier.
The picture comes from Pat Ross, of Bowness Avenue, Headington, who also sent in the Coronation photograph.

The older children with Gerald Swainger, second from left, are John Webber, Maureen Murphy, Eileen Murphy, Michael Laverty, Barry Relton, Isabel Stephenson, Ann Partlett and Patsy Laverty (now Pat Ross).
The younger children are Wendy Hutchinson, Peter Relton, Johnny Nutt, Pat Partlett, Iris King and Carol Ireson.
Mrs Ross tells me that Gerald Swainger, whose father, Arthur, took the picture, became a music teacher while the group also included two future headteachers, a police officer and a nurse.
