A new Italian restaurant is preparing to open at the former Prezzo site in Didcot.

Campagna Di Fratelli has put signs up on the site on Market Place to let customers know the restaurant is "coming soon".

The signs describe the restaurant as an "authentic Italian family restaurant" but it does not reveal an opening date.

It was announced Prezzo would close in April along with the Oxford branch.

The news comes after the Italian pizza chain fell into administration in 2020 and was bought by private equity owners Cain International.

Prezzo has blamed the cost of living crisis for the cuts, saying that its utility bills have more than doubled and they have been hit by rising food prices.

The price of pizza sauce has risen by 28 per cent and the price of spaghetti by 40 per cent.

The cost of dough balls has also increased by 15 per cent.

The Oxford Mail has approached Campagna Di Fratelli for more information.
