You might wonder what these young people were looking for on the ground.
They were, in fact, taking part in a dance on the Magdalen College School sports ground in Oxford in 1964.
The Oxford Mail reported: “An irresistible beat echoed across the silent meadows as hundreds of teenagers jostled, twisted and shook in a huge marquee to the sound of five of Oxford’s pop groups.”

A giant-sized barbecue and beat night had been organised by the Seven Club in North Oxford in aid of the Oxford Old Age Pensioners’ £30,000 appeal for new premises.
The school in east Oxford has some of the most spectacular school grounds in the country, including extensive playing fields.
The school is well known for its location on the banks of the Cherwell.
