A national activity company promoting healthy lifestyles is expanding to Oxfordshire, kickstarting in Didcot this weekend.

Active Future, who strive to instil a love of movement, will mark the start of their operations in the county with an introductory event at Didcot Leisure Centre this Saturday (November 4).

The Oxfordshire branch will initially operate from the centre but leaders plan to expand to Fleet Meadow Community Hall and Willowbrook Leisure Centre, work with schools running classes and fitness programmes and local councils and health departments to deliver publicly-funded projects.

Husband and wife duo Mark and Liane Clift are serving as area directors for the county. They are striving to operate across Oxfordshire, incorporating Wantage and then Oxford.

Mark said: “We go into schools at all times of the day and help with curriculum delivery and also run camps during the holidays. We enjoy running more unique sports like dodgeball and futsal too to get as many as possible interested in being active.

“We cater more for children but we certainly do bits with other age groups. It’s great to harness people’s willingness to get involved with something new.”

The opening event this Saturday, which will run from 1pm to 3pm, is now at capacity. Deputy town mayor councillor Andrew Jones, Active Future owners Matt and Angela Goodman and local families will be in attendance to hear an explanatory talk and join in with activity taster sessions which will be suited to those of all ages.

See the Active Future website for details on and to sign up to one of more introductory events taking place locally in the coming weeks.
