I had the honour of hosting an event in the Oxford Town Hall on Saturday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the NHS.
People spoke movingly about what it was like before 1948, when every trip to the doctor had to be paid for.
We have now placed a book behind the reception desk at the Town Hall in which people can write their positive memories of the NHS.
This is an opportunity to say thank you to all the many staff who work so hard to keep us alive and well.
SUSANNA PRESSEL Lord Mayor of Oxford
