Two establishments in South Oxfordshire have been handed one-star food hygiene ratings.

King William IV pub in Ipsden and Bombay Dining Indian restaurant in Henley were both handed the low scores by the Food Standards Agency.

A one-out-of-five star rating means that 'major improvement' is needed.

King William IV is a traditional pub near Wallingford which serves home cooked food and real ales, while Bombay Dining provides an original style of Indian cooking from its site on Reading Road.

At the other end of the scale, five star ratings were given to Costa Coffee and Ribizli cafe in Wallingford and Root One Café in Brightwell-sum-Sotwell by the government agency, which is responsible for protecting public health in relation to food.

Four-star ratings were handed to Hong Kong House Chinese takeaway in Wallingford and the Sun pub in Whitchurch Hill, near Reading.
