A West Oxfordshire man who cracked another’s cheekbone outside a Bampton pub has admitted assault.
Peter Morgan’s victim was standing outside the Talbot Hotel on April 30, 2021, when he was approached by the 63-year-old and punched in the face.
The ‘two or three’ blows left the victim with a broken cheekbone, prosecutor Charles Ward-Jackson told Oxford Crown Court on Monday (September 18).
He had to go to hospital for treatment, although the injuries did not require surgery.

Morgan, of The Wickets, Langford, was due to stand trial this week accused of causing grievous bodily harm.
However, before a jury could be sworn-in and the case opened, he admitted a lesser, alternative count of causing actual bodily harm.
Judge Maria Lamb agreed to a request from defence counsel Rónán McCann for a probation service pre-sentence report. The defendant was bailed until his sentencing hearing.
