Witney MP Robert Courts will be speaking at an event to discuss how the UK can meet its net zero targets in an affordable and efficient way.

Witney Eco Forum (WEF), a group of environmentally minded people in Witney and the surrounding area, is hosting an event to discuss the implications of the Skidmore Net Zero Review for West Oxfordshire.

The Skidmore Net Zero Review, written by former energy minister Chris Skidmore, is a comprehensive report on the UK’s progress towards achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The report outlines the opportunities offered by net zero and makes 129 recommendations covering areas such as business, infrastructure, and housing.

The event will be chaired by The Rt Rev Steven Croft, Bishop of Oxford, and facilitated by Roger Harrabin, BBC energy and environment analyst.

Mr Courts will address questions from invited guests on how the actions laid out in the Skidmore Review could affect local organisations, and what climate mitigation actions are important to West Oxfordshire.

The final 15 minutes of the evening will be open to questions from the audience.

The event, titled ‘An Evening with Robert Courts’, is on Thursday, September 21 at St Mary’s Church in Witney.

The event is free but ticketed.
