Bargain hunters set their alarms for the opening of a new TK Maxx store this morning.

The new store opened its doors at 10am today (Thursday August 31), offering fashion, accessories, beauty, and home, at discounts.

In the unit formerly occupied by New Look in the Westgate Centre, it stretches over two floors and 23,399 square feet.

Local treasure hunters were poised to rake through the racks of designer labels sold at up to 60 per cent less than the recommended retail price.

It is able to do this as when a designer overproduces, or other stores overbuy, it negotiates the lowest possible price and passes the savings on.

Shoppers can expect several new deliveries each week, with new treasures to find every visit, said the high street chain.

The former TK Maxx in the Clarendon Centre has now closed as the shopping centre is being redeveloped.

"With a variety of designer and affordable clothing as well as lifestyle and homeware pieces, the arrival of TK Maxx will significantly enhance our retail offering and enhance our guest’s experiences.”

The store opening will create around 50 new jobs within the area.

TK Maxx has given all its existing associates the opportunity to transfer across to the new store as part of the move.

A spokesperson at TK Maxx said: “We are delighted to be opening this new store in Westgate Centre.
