Villagers fear 12 planned homes will overwhelm facilities and create a “dangerous” road access.

Rectory Homes has applied to South Oxfordshire District Council to redevelop a paddock to the north-east of Warborough into housing.

But some who live in the village near Wallingford have objected to the plans.

In a public consultation, Peter Norman described the proposed means of access to the road as “dangerous.”

“The access to the site is on the inside of a blind bend,” he warned.

Sarah Kilby added: “The access is on a wide sweeping bend just after a 50mph limit with very little visibility.

“In reality even the proposed 20mph limit will not slow traffic enough to prevent problems turning into and out of this site.”

She added: “The proposal to build houses at this end of Warborough would seriously detract from the character of this village.”

Will Miller said: “The access to this site is limited. It is also in quiet area of the village where there would be considerable additional noise generated.

He added: “We also don't have the facilities in the village to cater for expansion, the pub, school and other amenities are not scalable.”

In its design and access statement, Rectory Homes said: “The proposed scheme will deliver a well-designed, high quality housing development that is appropriate to its village periphery location.

“It is our belief that the scheme reflects the character and appearance of the local area and can be accommodated on the site without significant adverse impact.”
