The number of patients suffering from Covid-19 in Oxford University Hospitals is on the rise.

New NHS data has revealed that Oxford University Hospitals Trust was caring for 62 patients with coronavirus on August 6 (Sunday).

This was an increase from 35 on the same day the previous week (July 30).

Across England, there were 1,912 people in hospital with Covid as of August 6.

Nationally, the number of hospital patients with Covid-19 has increased by 81 per cent in the last four weeks.

The figures also show 61 new patients with Covid were admitted to hospital in Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to August 4.

Back in April, it was reported that only 46 patients were being treated in Oxford University Hospitals for Covid-19.
