A fish and chips takeaway in Didcot has been given a low food hygiene rating.

The Chippy which is on 192 Broadway in Didcot was rated one-out-of-five stars when it was inspected on June 26 by the Food Standards Agency.

This latest rating means that out of South Oxfordshire’s 81 takeaways with ratings, 29 have ratings of five and one have zero ratings.

The Oxford Mail made efforts to contact the owner.

The fish and chips takeaway was rated as 'good' for hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities.

However, the inspector found that major improvement was necessary for management of food safety.

On TripAdvisor, the takeaway is rated three-out-of-five and has had 11 reviews, of which four are terrible and four are excellent.
