The Beckhams are reportedly in "a new row with neighbours" and have been accused of “bringing suburbia” to the countryside over plans to build a greenhouse at their country home.

Mr and Mrs Beckham have been granted planning permission to build a new glasshouse and kitchen garden with raised beds at their Great Tew home near Chipping Norton.

An application to West Oxfordshire District Council to build a second 250-metre access road to their home so the allotment and glasshouse can be built is under consideration.

One neighbour objects, writing: “West Oxfordshire District Council should have not investigated this application more, if they had they would have discovered it is a public right of way and listed as a 'footpath' with Oxfordshire County Council.

"It is also listed on the Ramblers Website as a public footpath with a public right of way number 234/7/10. I trust the local authority will now look into this matter."

According to The Sun, another neighbour launches a withering attack, ridiculing the string of changes the Beckhams' have made to their £12million estate.

The paper claims that in comments submitted to West Oxfordshire District Council, the neighbour says: "I am always amazed at those who come to live in the countryside and then want to bring in suburbia, they are not content to live in a natural country environment, they want 'to build a lake', not content with a small lake they then want to enlarge it to some four acres with an island so they can have picnics on the island."

“Yes, the council have put restrictions on the approved application but who checks up on this that no motorised boats are being used.

"The applicants defended their plans, saying they would recreate a classic English meadow scene, well if that was the case I would change my landscape architect because Capability Brown would never have designed a garden, with such features as huge football pitch, a spectator stand, an outdoor pool, and a sauna, classic English, I don’t think so."

The angry neighbour went on to tell the newspaper that he wouldn't be surprised if the celebrity couple applied for a funfair ride to be installed in the garden.

The Beckhams' representative has been contacted by the Oxford Mail but there has been no response. 

The couple has previously denied national reports that they would be selling their Cotswolds home. 

The Beckhams’ property is along the same road as the exclusive private members' club Soho Farmhouse which hosted Meghan Markle's hen party and is a well-known A-lister haunt.
