Eurovision star Sam Ryder and deadpan comedian Romesh Ranganathan will headline 'the world’s largest vegan camping festival' in Bicester next weekend.

Over four day and three nights, campers from more than 40 countries will descend on the Bicester Heritage grounds for the Vegan Camp Out.

The festival, which takes place from Friday (July 28) to Monday, will feature camping, talks, live music, afterparties, yoga and meditation classes, workshops and “the UK's best vegan food.”

Comedian Romesh Ranganathan, who has presented shows including Judge Romesh and The Ranganation, and singer-songwriter Sam Ryder, who rose to prominence through TikTok before finishing second at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with his song “Space Man”, will both perform.

The line-up also includes animal activists Joey Carbstrong and Tash Peterson, musicians Mobius Loop, Bob Vylan and Etherwood, athlete and speaker Patrik Baboumian, food influencers So Vegan and Little London Vegan, plant-based chefs BOSH!, vegan pig vet Alice Brough, and Klaus Mitchell of Plant Based News.

The festival has had a six-year partnership with its partner Viva!, a vegan campaigning charity specialising in undercover investigations and high-profile animal campaigns.

Founder and director Juliet Gellatley, said: “We’ve had a really strong partnership with Vegan Camp Out for six years now, and work closely together to make veganism accessible and enjoyable.

“This weekend is very important to a rapidly growing movement, raising the profile of veganism to the public and providing a space for existing vegans to build new friendships.

“The festival is also a great opportunity for our passionate team to speak to thousands of people who care about animals and our planet.”

Ms Gellatley will give two talks over the weekend.

The first will explain her vegan journey and feature audience participation, while the second will explain how a face-to-face meeting with a mountain gorilla sparked the start of Viva! in Africa.

The charity’s documentary ‘Hogwood: a modern horror story’ will also be shown.

Ms Gellatley said: “A milestone in the vegan calendar, Vegan Camp Out is a momentous occasion where vegans and non-vegans alike can meet, enjoy a massive selection of delicious plant-based foods and listen to top talks, comedy sets and live music.

“It’s the friendliest festival I’ve ever been to and I strongly encourage non-vegans to come along and just enjoy.”

Tickets are available from vegancampout.co.uk, with adults charged £85, kids £40 and infants up to three-years-old going free.

Last year’s festival was held at Stanford Hall, in Lutterworth, with over 12,000 people in attendance.

The event in 2021 saw Russell Brand and Chris Packham as headliners.
