A pub is handing out free breakfast butties to celebrate the upcoming women’s World Cup.

Customers at the White Horse on London Road in Headington will be able to get a bacon, sausage or quorn butty if they say the secret code phrase ‘butties for the footy’ at the till.

The offer is available this weekend (July 22 to July 23) from 9am to 10am and is being run at Hungry Horse pubs across the country.

Other participating pubs in Oxfordshire include the Rowing Machine in Witney

The tournament officially gets underway on Thursday (July 20), with joint hosts Australia and New Zealand playing the first two games.

England, who will be managed by Sarina Wiegman Down Under, begin their campaign early on Saturday (July 22) at 10.30am versus Haiti.

Fans will be hoping that the side, who achieved tournament glory at the European Championships held in England last year, continue their winning streak and see the competition all the way through to the final in Sydney on August 20.
