A family run pub company which owns several establishments around Oxfordshire has received £2.5m of funding.

Oak Taverns, a Thame-based company which owns pubs in Wallingford, Bicester, Chinnor and Faringdon among others, secured the money from Cynergy Bank.

The support will enable the company to refinance across the estate and replenish funds from an earlier acquisition.

Simon Collinson, director of Oak Taverns, said: “All aspects of our relationship with Cynergy Bank have been exemplary - they have understood the needs of our business and met them successfully.

"We completed a refinance across the estate, putting us in a great position to grow. We work in the hospitality industry, where relationships with our customers and team are key to our success. In our experience, Cynergy Bank holds the same values.”

Oak Taverns recently had an offer accepted for the Crown pub in Marcham, which has been closed since the summer of 2022.

The £2.5m five-year 12-month interest-only term loan is followed by a 24-month repayment plan.

Thomas Wallace, relationship manager at Cynergy Bank, said: “Oak Taverns Limited is a growing operator in the pub market in Oxfordshire and the surrounding area.

"They have a growth plan in place which they are working towards, and the bank is excited to help them with this project. This was our first transaction with Oak Taverns Limited, and we look forward to working together and developing the relationship in due course.”
