Oxford MP Anneliese Dodds could be sacked in a looming re-shuffle carried out by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, sources have told the Telegraph.

With the Labour Party conference taking place in Liverpool this October, there has been much discussion about which MPs could be in and out of the shadow cabinet in a future re-shuffle of Mr Starmer’s top team.

The Telegraph has reported Labour officials expect Mr Starmer to demote Oxford East MP Anneliese Dodds, as sources told the newspaper she was “not political enough” for the job of party chairwoman and had done “a poor job of balancing her twin jobs of chairman and shadow women and equalities minister”.

The MP who is widely tipped to replace Ms Dodds is Labour’s national campaign coordinator Shabana Mahmood.

Ms Dodd’s spokesman said she would not be commenting on the speculation.

Oxford East’s MP has been demoted by Mr Starmer before in a reshuffle.

On May 9, 2021, Ms Dodds was sacked as shadow chancellor and relegated to her current position as party chairwoman.

Leeds MP Rachel Reeves was subsequently promoted and remains Labour’s shadow chancellor.

Ms Dodds has been a Labour MP for Oxford East since June 2017 and was an MEP for South East England for four years before taking her seat on the opposition benches.

The Labour leader's office has been approached by the Oxford Mail but we were told she would not be commenting.
