Firefighters are asking the public to honk in support as they set off on their challenge to run to every fire station in Oxfordshire.

Ten firefighters from the station will be running across the county on June 24 and 25 to raise funds for the Firefighter's Charity which provides both physical and mental health support.

The team will run for approximately 200 miles continuously, starting at Banbury Fire Station and finishing at Rewley Road.

Rewley Road Fire Station posted on Facebook: "Blue Watch have begun their charity run this morning with FF Johnson leading the way."

They added: "If you pass us at all today please feel free to show your support and give a little beep."

Fire service teams from across the county will be supporting them along the route with support vehicles.

The Firefighter's Charity relies upon public support for the majority of their funding.

It not only offers support to firefighters but also is willing to help their families with the stresses which can be experienced by the entire family.

Matthew John, crew manager at Rewley Road Fire Station, said the charity meant a lot to him personally.

He said: “A lot of us have different skills and fitness levels which is what makes this such a big challenge for us all.

"I'm a runner but some of the team members are not."
