A much-anticipated motoring and classic plane event is returning this weekend for the first time since 2018.

June 17 and 18 will see Bicester Heritage’s flagship event Flywheel back at the former WW2 RAF bomber base.

A true feast for historic car enthusiasts’ senses, Flywheel will see a host of classic motoring marques join the displays at the historic site.

Fans of vintage flight can expect a showcase, with a broad range of historic aircraft set to grace the site’s grass airfield.

Exactly 79 years to the day since a Bristol Blenheim last flew out of RAF Bicester in active service, Bicester Heritage has confirmed the only surviving aircraft will be up in the skies over the weekend.

Guests will also have the chance to explore the technical site and meet with the 50 specialist businesses across the weekend.

There will also be arts and design workshops in the hangar

Philip White, an associate director, said: “Flywheel returns to mark ten exciting years of Bicester Heritage, and we believe it’ll be a fitting celebration for our unique former RAF Bomber Station.

“From the fifty-plus specialist businesses based here to the team on the ground, everyone on site has made a huge effort to make this weekend a celebration for Bicester to be proud of.

“We look forward to welcoming a huge number of local ticket holders and their families for what promises to be a fun, family-friendly weekend.

Daniel Geoghegan, said: “This year is a particularly special one for us here at Bicester Heritage, and the return of flywheel is a fitting tribute to celebrate the story of our unique site.

“We hope to welcome attendees of all ages to join us for what will be a spectacular event, a tribute to the hard work of our specialist community and all those who have supported our drive here at Bicester since day one.”

Bicester Heritage’s 10-year anniversary will also be celebrated at the motoring event.

Founded in 2013, Bicester Heritage is a business park dedicated to historic motoring.

The business park, based on the former RAF Bicester site, now has over 45 specialist businesses.

Bicester Heritage has become a national visitor attraction, with regular classic car events drawing in more than 7,000 visitors each time.

In July, the site will also host the world’s largest vegan camping festival, Vegan Camp Out, with singer-songwriter Sam Ryder and comedian Romesh Ranganathan among the confirmed line-up.

Earlier this year, the site also hosted Tuff Nutterz, the UK’s largest bouncy obstacle course – a 300 metre inflatable maze – during April, with around 5,000 guests enjoying the course.
