A crash closed two lanes of the M40 between Thame and Oxford.

National Highways said the collision involved a single vehicle on the southbound carriageway between junctions eight and seven. It happened before 5pm on Saturday (June 10).

By 5.30pm, the road was back open.

The crash came as National Highways, the body responsible for England’s motorway network, warned drivers to be particularly careful driving on Saturday night.

While thunderstorms passed over Oxfordshire during the mid-afternoon, the Met Office has warned that in parts of the West Midlands and North Wales a month’s worth of rain could fall in an hour later tonight.
