A Chinese restaurant received a low food hygiene rating among the latest results handed out to Oxfordshire establishments.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 11 of Cherwell’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Handed a low score, the Grand Village Imperial at Unit E4 Bicester Shopping Park Kelso Road received a two-out-of-five score after an assessment on April 27.

The rating suggests that improvement in food hygiene standards is necessary at the establishment.

The Food Standards Agency is in charge of inspecting and rating hospitality venues on a zero to five scale, zero is the lowest score and five is the highest.

The other ten establishments rated were given a rating of five. 

The following ratings were been given to six restaurants, cafes or canteens:

  • Rated 5: The Bosphorus at Unit E1 Bicester Shopping Park Kelso Road, Bicester, Oxfordshire; rated on May 25
  • Rated 5: Gurkha Village at 174 Oxford Road, Kidlington, Oxfordshire; rated on May 24
  • Rated 5: The Village Coffee Shop at 52 West End, Launton, Oxfordshire; rated on May 17
  • Rated 5: Yarnton Cafe at Yarnton Home and Garden at Cafe Yarnton Home And Garden Sandy Lane, Yarnton, Oxfordshire; rated on May 15
  • Rated 5: Open Doors at Bicester Methodist Church Bell Lane, Bicester, Oxfordshire; rated on May 12
  • Rated 5: Orinoco at Ground Floor 57 - 58 High Street, Banbury, Oxfordshire; rated on May 11

And two ratings were handed to pubs, bars or nightclubs:

  • Rated 5: Safari Garden (The Plough) at 17 Ploughley Road, Arncott, Oxfordshire; rated on May 18
  • Rated 5: The Launton Arms at 52 West End, Launton, Oxfordshire; rated on May 17

Plus two ratings for takeaways:

  • Rated 5: Siam House at 48 Parsons Street, Banbury, Oxfordshire; rated on May 24
  • Rated 5: Yo! To Go! at Tesco Extra Lockheed Close, Banbury, Oxfordshire; rated on February 16
