Historic Second World War planes are set to fly over parts of Oxfordshire this weekend.

Aircraft from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) flypast will head over the county on Saturday, June 3.

The flight operates six Spitfires, two Hurricanes, a Lancaster bomber, a C47 Dakota, and two Chipmunk aircraft and is flown by regular RAF Aircrew.

Oxfordshire residents should be able to see the spectacular flypast over Launton near Bicester anytime between 1:08pm and 1:38pm.

The mission of the RAF BBMF is to maintain the priceless artefacts of our national heritage in airworthy condition in order to commemorate those who have fallen in the service of this country.

The flyover comes after last month's commemoration of the 80-year anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic, the longest continuous military campaign in World War II.

The battle lasted from September 1939 until the defeat of Germany in 1945.
