Villagers fear a new caravan site which may be created near their homes will bring lots of “litter and noise.”

Plans have been submitted to convert land near Hall Farm, at the corner of Stratton Audley Road and the A4421, in Fringford, near Bicester, into a site which incorporates four residential pitches, each containing a mobile home and a day room, with parking for two cars and a touring caravan.

A stable building will also be built nearby.

However, some villagers are concerned about the proposals, arguing that they may disturb the peace of the village.

Commenting on the application, Ben Rowell, who lives in Fringford, said: “This is a village which is only large enough to support its current residency.

“Bicester is only down the road from the land in the application, which has more than sufficient room to house the development.

“There is a perfectly good traveller site in Wheatley which isn’t far away, so why not go there? I worry about the amount of litter and noise which is going to be produced, and the heavy carts being towed through our precious village will destroy the roads.”

Echoing this concern, Sandra Meaney, also living in Fringford, said: “There have been so many recent planning applications rejected for this small village, for many good reasons.

“Such as access, lack of community services and poor road construction. Access to this proposed site will be hazardous to say the least, with so many accidents and deaths on that stretch of road in the last 10 years.”
