A new building in Bicester intends to meet the demand for primary school places.
Work has started on the expansion of St Edburg’s CE Primary School on the Kingsmere development in Bicester.
The county council is working in partnership with the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education and Countryside Properties Limited and the new facilities will allow the expansion of the primary school from a two-form entry to a three form entry.

The school will operate across two sites within the Kingsmere development from September 2024 and there are also plans for outdoor learning spaces to be created.
County councillor and cabinet member for children, education and youth services, Liz Brighouse, said: “This extra capacity will have huge educational benefits for pupils at St Edburg’s CE Primary School.

“It is yet another exciting project from the county council, working with communities and partners on our commitment to provide first class education for Oxfordshire’s children and young people.”

The existing school building is set to be adapted and this will create a dedicated site for key stage two pupils.
Bicester children are to benefit from a purpose-built, single storey building under construction at St Edburg’s CE Primary School on the Kingsmere development.

Nursery, foundation and key stage one pupils will use the new facilities.

Provision for key stage pupils will also be improved, as the new building will be instrumental in providing specialist spaces for languages and IT and physical education.
