An Oxford independent school has been rated ‘excellent’ in all areas in a recent inspection.

Oxford High School on Belbroughton Road was visited by a team of seven inspectors in March from the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (ISI).

Oxford High School is a private day school for girls aged between four and 18.

It was founded by the Girls’ Day School Trust in 1875 which makes it Oxford’s oldest girls’ school.

Oxford High School headteacher, Marina Gardiner Legge, said: "I’m delighted with the results of our inspection which was held at the end of March.

“The school was judged as excellent in all areas as well as meeting our compliance requirements, which is always vital to protect our students."

The inspectors found that pupils at the school had an excellent attitude towards academic work and that they were curious and ambitious.

It was also noted in the report that girls at the school made rapid progress across the curriculum and that their study skills were highly developed.

The inspectors observed extra-curricular activities and assemblies as part of the inspection.
