A Grove man has pleaded not guilty to controlling behaviour and assaulting his partner.

Daniel Smith, 26, of Vickers Way, Grove, appeared before Oxford Crown Court on Wednesday morning (May 10) when he denied charges of controlling or coercive behaviour, causing actual bodily harm, common assault, assault by beating and criminal damage.

Prosecutors allege he exercised financial control over her, ‘constantly put her down’, and threatened to follow her brother and sister if she left him.

Judge Michael Gledhill KC remanded him into custody and fixed the trial for August 7. The case is expected to last four days.
